Successful Adoptions

Stella's story just keeps getting better and better. Stella went from a sick and abandoned wanderer to a much loved and adored family member.  Plucked from the roadside by "Rescuer Pam", Stella was restored to health while Pam searched for just the right family to adopt Stella.  Eventually, Stella got her lucky break in August of 2010 when the  Park family found Stella on-line and instantly knew she was exactly what they were looking for.  By September, Stella was packing her bags and filling out her change of address card.  By the looks of things, Stella hit the jackpot!!

Jett & Jazz (formally Jettson & Jasmine) came to Project Pawz as strays.  Hard to believe this beautiful pair had no place to hang their hat, and no owner that ever claimed them.  Super duper sweet and extremely bonded to one another, Jett & Jazz were vetted and taken into foster care... An adoption TOGETHER an absolute must!!  As luck would have it, their ship came in. Jett & Jazz moved to Garland in July, 2010, to live with Russ & Connie and their boys.  Life is good for Jett & Jazz, and we still get "babysitting" privileges.  Can't beat that!!

In April of 2010, Ginger Snap aka "Miss Personality" graciously thanked Project Pawz for her year long stay with us as she excitedly embarked on her new life with Alfonso & Jenny.  She also gained 2 new canine brothers, Beau & Sammie, which we hear she adores!! Ginger Snap has come a long way since the day she entered the animal shelter, a weak & sickly pup.  Just goes to  show  what a great vet and lots of determination will do for a rescue dog!!  And those ears??  The cutest we've ever seen!!

In February of 2010, Brinkley was found all alone and hungry, way out in the country taking refuge in a barn belonging to the Blackmans.  How he got there nobody knows.  How he got out of there is a much better story. The Blackmans (being the kind people they are) took Brinkley in.  After all, Texas was experiencing record breaking snowfall.  They fed him, sheltered him and took him to the vet for a health evaluation & his vaccinations.  Next, Project Pawz helped out by circulating Brinkley's picture and story.  The phone started ringing immediately with suitors, and young Brinkley's life changed in an instant. Brinkley now happily lives with Thomas & Ashley, and has a new best friend in Callie, resident canine.

Dumped at the City shelter by her family, Sadie Mae was scared & confused.  She certainly didn't belong there.  She was soon taken in by Project Pawz, vetted,  and put up for adoption. Sadie Mae was adopted in September of 2009 by Kim and hubby, Jim.  She now lives in Pilot Point, Texas.  Kim trains horses and Jim just happens to be a large animal vet, so it appears Sadie Mae gets to live out the rest of her days with a family that really loves animals.  What a lucky girl!!  Oh, and she was also welcomed by Ben, resident canine.

Olive came into the City shelter during the summer of 2009 with her two brothers, Billy & Paxton.  Due to an overabundance of cats & kittens at the shelter, coupled with upper respiratory infections spreading throughout the cat room, Olive came to Project Pawz to get healthy enough for adoption.  Lucky for her, little Carleigh spotted Olive at the August Adopt-A-Cat event and it was love at first sight!! Olive loves her new home with Carleigh and big sis, Lauren.

Levi was picked up on a lonely stretch of I-45 one cold day in December.  He was just a pup... far too young to be out on his own w/no food or shelter.  He was rescued that day and taken straight to the vet.  He had a couple of bumps & bruises, along with a few fleas.  Other than that, Levi just needed a warm place to sleep and some good food.  Levi stayed at Project Pawz long enough to recover and get all his vaccinations.  Soon little Levi's mugshot stole the heart of his new mom, Marzette.  That irresistible face landed him right smack in the lap of luxury in Denton, Texas (Jan 2009).  He also gained a new canine sister named Keeper that he's quite crazy for!!
-----------------

Annie (adopted Sept 2008) loves her new home in Cypress, Tx.  Her family consists of human parents, Mike & Amie, and human siblings, Michael & Lindsey.  We're always happy to see our fosters get such wonderful families to live with. Annie has since gained a new canine partner in crime, Scrappy, and she loves being a big sister!!

Big ol' Samson showed up on our doorstep with a huge open gash across the entire front of his neck.  We literally found him lying in a pool of blood.  It took quite some time for Samson's neck to heal, but this Gentle Giant didn't let it get him down.  After a failed adoption (due to Samson's desire to herd the neighbor's cattle!!), he returned once again to Project Pawz. Samson  was later adopted for the 2nd time in February of 2008 by the Platt family of Corsicana, Tx.  This time it "stuck"!! Samson loves having 3 kids to play with, and a nice big house & yard!!  He also gained a new canine companion, Daisy, that he's pretty fond of as well.

Patches went to his forever home with Tom & Daun in Corsicana, Tx in Feb, 2008.  This sweet little guy has it made. Patches has since become a big brother to Raider, the Sheltie.  The best part about this adoption is that Patches still lives close, so we get to see him whenever we want!!

These two little heartbreakers, Bud & Rowdy, (adopted February 2008) are littermates "living the good life" with their adoptive parents, James & Linda, in Wautaga, Texas.  They were inseperable here, so we're very happy they were adopted together.  We're sure they'll be twice the fun!!
-----------------

Lilly was adopted by Ray, Anne & Meghan from Bedford, Tx (Feb 2008).  Talk about Miss Personality!!  Lilly quickly became a pampered pup in her new home, & that's all we can ask for....
-----------------

Duke had a hard life until foster mom JoAnn appeared.  He was a Hurricane Katrina escapee, then he was abandoned again due to divorce.  Understandably Duke had some trust issues.  JoAnn took him in and healed his body and his spirit.  After months of trying to find Duke the perfect home, JoAnn realized he already was home....  It became official in January of 2008.

Captain Jack was adopted in January of 2008 by Pattie of Corsicana (who by the way had always been a cat lover).  Thanks to Captain Jack, Pattie has now been introduced to the wonderful world of dogs too!!!
-----------------

Smokey Joe was adopted in July of 2007 by his new mom (an avid cat lover), Pattie. Smokey Joe has several feline friends in his new home to keep him company, and they've even added a dog named Captain Jack.  And who says dogs & cats don't get along???
-----------------

Maggie moved to McKinney, Texas with her adoptive family, the Meyers, in January of 2007.  Maggie shares her new home with her adoptive parents and also a human brother and sister that take really good care of her.  This is Miss Mags enjoying herself at Dog Swim Day in Allen.  Looks like fun!!

Chester was a new experience for us here at Project Pawz, but after a crash course in Rabbits 101, we came to love & appreciate his quirky little personality.  After much research and a little luck, we were able to land Chester a spot in one of the top rabbit rescues around.  In Sept of 2006, Chester moved to House Rabbit Resource Network in Austin, Texas.   Congratulations Chester!!

Little Missy went to Palestine, Tx in the summer of 2004 to live with the Gibbs family at Old Magnolia.  She soon became acquainted with the resident cat, Leo, and settled right in!!
-----------------

Sheko (front) with gal pal Sasha (also a rescue), was adopted by the Weaver family in 2002. Sheko & Sasha have both passed on, but loyally wait at "The Bridge" for their family.

If there were such a thing as an adoption lottery, Aspen would hold the winning ticket.  From being abandoned on a farm to market road and battling sarcoptic mange to having a family that grants her every wish... Aspen is a true success story!!  Her new life is one that certainly parallels that of a princess. Always gracing us with a huge smile and a hearty tail wag, Aspen is sorely missed here at Project Pawz, however she's gained so much by joining the Anderson family of The Woodlands, Tx. (December, 2010).  And we think "Aspen Anderson" has a nice ring to it, don't you???
-----------------

This precious pooch with movie star good looks is Peaches.  She and a pal were found in a pasture sharing pond water with the cows!! Peaches hair was matted to her skin, and she had to be completely shaved when rescued.  In May, 2010, after a brief stay in a foster home for some training on "inside manners", little Peaches was adopted and moved to East Texas to live with her new mom & dad, Dave & Brenda. Peaches also acquired a new canine partner in crime, Sparkey, who she now plays with every single day.  Ain't life grand???

Being quite the charmer and equally irresistible, Paxton came to Project Pawz from the animal shelter in the summer of 2009.  Pax stayed with us for months waiting for just the right home, entertaining us with his antics every single day.  In February, 2010, we tearfully bid Paxton adieu, as he moved to his forever home with new mom, Lacy.  Paxton is now happily  settled in with Pistol, Hotshot & Oakley, a couple of 4 legged pals for him to play with!!

Foxtrot, now George, had his bags packed and was ready for the trip to his new home with Tammy and her family. George's rescue was a group effort.  He was rescued from a busy Hwy & fostered by a nice lady named Mandy.  When he was picked up, George had an injured eye and paw, so the Humane Society of Navarro County stepped up to handle his vet care.   Finally, George was placed up for adoption through Project Pawz.... His good looks caught Tammy's eye in January of 2010, and the rest is history.  George tested positive for heartworms, but lucky for him, Tammy and her family will be taking care of George's treatment.  We wish George the very best!!
UPDATE:  Regretfully, in spite of the very best efforts on the part of his new family, George's heartworms were too far advanced and George passed away on September 11, 2010 during the course of his treatment.  He did however spend his last days surrounded by a family that absolutely adored him....  Yet another senseless loss due to something so preventable.  RIP sweet Georgie and many thanks to Tammy and her family for not shying away from tackling George's health issues, and for giving George the wonderful and caring home he deserved all along.

Sissy came to Project Pawz from the City shelter in July, 2009 to escape sickness that was quickly spreading through the cat room.  Here she was vaccinated, spayed, and added to our "Adoptable Cats" list. Sissy ran the show at Project Pawz until September, when she was adopted by Hanna, an avid cat lover.  Sissy is now enjoying the good life!!

This beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer, Waylon, was given up by his family in July of 2009 because of his large size and high activity level.  Not wanting Waylon to be relinquished to the shelter, Project Pawz contacted Andree, our friend with more rescue connections than you can imagine....  Somehow, some way, Andree managed to get Waylon into Texas GSP Rescue, and we are so grateful.  Andree even drove several hours to take Waylon to meet the rescue representative for us!!  So happy for Waylon.  Good job, Andree!!

Missy was released to our City shelter by her owner in March, 2009.  Unable to be moved over to the adoption side due to extreme shyness, her fate was sealed.  Project Pawz was contacted by shelter staff to help find a place for Missy. After a few calls, e-mails & a photo shoot..... enter Lana w/Hill County Paw Pals.  Missy was released into their care and has now been adopted into a loving home in the Dallas area with 2 little girls to play with.  Thanks to Lana and a caring shelter staff, Missy, now Lola, got the "happily ever after" she so deserved!!!

Cooper was dropped off at Animal Care Clinic by a Good Samaritan in January, 2009.  The vets and staff there took good care of him and enlisted Project Pawz to help them find a good home for Cooper.  Answering the call of duty were Rachel and her sons, Dustin & Whitten, of Corsicana.  They adopted Cooper and made him an official member of their pack.

As of October 2008, Sugar lives with new mom, JoAnn, and canine buddies, Andrew, Duke 1 and Duke 2 (yes, there are 2 Dukes there), and she's happy as a clam.  Miss JoAnn claims that Sugar is the perfect dog.  And to think she was once a matted, lonely stray, covered in fleas, without a bed of her own..... look at her now!!
-----------------

Precious Bella was the smallest of a litter of 9 rowdy black Lab mix puppies, however she was so very lady-like and well-mannered.  That sweet demeanor  of hers caught the attention of the Cox family and Bella was adopted in September of 2008.  The Cox family sent this picture soon after her arrival at her new home in Ennis, Texas.  She looks quite comfy there, doesn't she??? Bella's gonna be just fine.

Bob was dumped at the vet's office by his family in July, 2008.  He was so sad & confused!!  Fortunately Tiffany, an office employee, took a shine to Bob and took great care of him until we could safely get him into the very reputable Happy Endings Dog RescueWhat a great dog!!

Beckham (right) was adopted in May, 2008.  He now shares a home in Eagle Mountain Lake, Tx with his pal, Shoei (left) and really cool mom, Maura. Beckham is not only handsome, but he's a real sweetheart too!!!

Mercedes was abandoned by her original family who moved away and simply left her behind.  A concerned neighbor noticed Mercedes foraging for food and contacted Project Pawz for help.  She was taken into foster care, vetted, and soon adopted in Sept of 2007 by Allison, Aaron and their mom, Gail, of Corsicana.  This beautiful girl is enjoying living in the lap of luxury!!
-----------------

Jake went to live with the Harrisons of Corsicana in January of 2006.  He was so excited to have a little boy to play with.... a match made in heaven for sure.  Just look at the mug on that baby!!

Lucky now lives with the Lynch family (adopted October 2006) and a menagerie of other four legged friends on Richland Chambers Lake in Corsicana, Texas.

We were notified about a stray dog out in the vicinity of the Corsicana Country Club.  That stray dog was Deets. Sweet Deets came to us in the spring of 2003, heartworm positive and in need of some much needed veterinary care.  He emerged the picture of perfect health. Deets eventually went to his new home in the country with Ben & Diane, and a few other resident dogs & cats.  Ben & Diane sent this picture shortly after they adopoted Deets. They later moved to Kentucky where Deets now has grandchildren to play with!!
