TESS
Tess is a very striking Shepherd/Heeler mix girl that was rescued from the streets in mid 2008. Nobody knows for sure how long Tess was on her own, but we do know that she had at least 2 litters of DARLING puppies while she was at large. She cared for both litters amazingly well to be fending for herself. On both occasions, the puppies were taken in by Project Pawz and placed into loving homes…..all the while Tess remained elusive. Finally, Animal Control was able to “persuade” Tess to come with them to the animal shelter. Once there, she was booked (so to speak) and on her way to a foster home for some much needed TLC. Tess has made unbelievable progress while living with her humans. She's learned the doggie door, and she’s also learned that a nice bed and 3 squares a day ain’t so bad after all!!! Tess was a little slow to offer complete trust at first, but soon warmed up when we earned it. We could tell she really wanted to let her guard down and just be loved. Now that she's had some consistency in her life, she's evolved into the perfect pet. She enjoys sitting while you pet her and scratch behind her ears, and is truly a couch potato. At this point in her life, her tail wags constantly. Can you imagine how grateful Tess must be???? Tess gets along with other dogs and has learned to play and communicate with them very well. This we know for sure since she shares her foster home with several other dogs of all breeds and sizes. She’s done very well to have been thrust into such an active environment. Tess is finally getting to enjoy just being a D-O-G with no worries about where her next meal is coming from or how she’ll stay comfy at night. At long last, Tess is safe. Might your home be her safe haven forever??? Tess is mostly white with a few tan spots here and there. Her eyes are a beautiful golden brown color and really stand out against her light fur. She’s quite beautiful actually. Hard to believe she was nobody’s girl…………. Tess is about 3 years old, current on her vaccinations, spayed and taking heartworm preventative.

HANK
Handsome Hank is what we call him around here, and we sure think his name suits him...... Hank was born in June of 2008, so he's just over a year old now.  He weighed 72 lbs at his one year vet visit.  Hank is current on his vaccinations, neutered, and has been taking monthly heartworm preventative since he was 3 months old. Hank is such a striking boy. He's black with beautiful white stockings on his front and back feet. He also has a gorgeous white blaze on his chin and chest and white on the very tip of his always wagging tail!! Hank is still a young dog that's ready to make his mark on the world. He's smart and so eager to please. Hank enjoys playing chase with his brothers and retrieving his favorite ball. When he gets his ball, he quickly brings it back to you in hopes that you'll throw it again and again. Hank uses a doggie door and enjoys being both inside and outside. He's used to sleeping in his crate at night, along with his favorite bone stuffed with cheese. Hank gets along great with children and other dogs, so he's hopeful that one day he'll finally get that FOREVER HOME he so deserves!!

DAKOTA
Dakota has the most adorable personality ever!!! With so much charm and good looks, he's sure to catch someone's eye. Dakota was born in June of 2008, making him just over a year old now. Dakota weighed 64 lbs at his one year vet visit.  He's completely vaccinated, neutered, and he's been taking monthly heartworm preventative since he was 3 months old. Dakota is as smart as a whip. He's always the first one to learn the routine and remember it. He uses the doggie door often, as he loves to go out and play in the back yard. Dakota sleeps in his crate at night and likes to have his bone in there with him, especially if it has a little cheese in it!! To say that Dakota is the lively one of the bunch may be an understatement. He's the one that waits until everyone else is settled in for a nap and then he decides he'll march on top of the dog pile and methodically choose whose ears to begin to pull on or whose tail to tug. It's simply sport to him!! When his sisters were still here, he delighted in hearing them squeal when he playfully pulled their tails!!  Dakota is a happy dog and loves the company of children and other dogs.  If you're looking for a shy dog, Dakota's not for you. But if you want a playful, smart and devoted friend, he's your boy! Dakota won't disappoint!

GUS
Gus is a Lab mix that was born in June of 2008, so he's just over a year old now. Gus is completely vaccinated, neutered, and he's been taking monthly heartworm preventative since he was 3 months old. Gus is the sweetest, most gentle dog we've ever fostered. He's one of the larger boys from his litter, weighing 69 lbs at his one year vet visit.  Despite his size, Gus has quite a meek demeanor.  He's a looker with his beautiful wavy black coat and a tiny bit of white on his front and back feet. He also has the signature white blaze on his chin and chest and white on the very tip of his tail (that happens to always be wagging!!). Gus spends his day napping and playing with his brothers. His favorite outside game is fetching his ball. Gus isn't hyper or overly active. He always waits patiently for his turn during playtime. He's very well mannered and calm, and REALLY enjoys having his tummy scratched. Sometimes he rushes past you, only to fall down right in front of you and roll over bearing his belly for immediate belly rubs!! He's a smart dog too. Gus learned the doggie door in just under a day. At night, Gus sleeps in his crate and he knows he gets his bone with cheese at bedtime. He won't let you forget it either. Gus is a very affectionate and laid back type of guy. Gentle Gus is a keeper!!!

ROCCO
Introducing sweet Rocco, aka Rock Star........ Rocco is a Lab mix that was born in June of 2008. He's just over a year old now and weighed 66 lbs at his one year vet visit. Rocco is fully vaccinated, neutered, and he's been taking monthly heartworm preventative since he was 3 months old. Rocco is about as good natured as a dog can be. Nothing seems to upset Rocco. He takes his own sweet time with everything and you can tell he's really taking it all in. He loves human companionship and exhibits that same loyalty that Labs are so well known for. He seems to enjoy all of his toys too, but mostly his ball. He loves to fetch it and bring it back as long as your arm will hold out!!! Rocco calms down when he's inside and is very sweet natured ALL THE TIME. Rocco is extremely well behaved, and ever since he was a little puppy he's been quite comfortable exhibiting affection. He's quite a love bug!!! Rocco has a shiny black coat like the rest of his siblings. He also has a tiny bit of white on his front and back feet, along with their signature white blaze on his chest. Rocco would do best in a family with another dog, as he absolutely LOVES other dogs...... kids too!!! He's comfortable using a doggie door and enjoys the freedom of going in and out as he pleases. He sleeps in his crate every night and is perfectly happy there as long as he has his favorite bone stuffed with cheese in there with him!! Rocco would absolutely make a wonderful addition to any family.

GINGER SNAP
Ginger Snap came into the shelter as a tiny reddish colored puppy caught in a humane trap, sadly labeled a mere nuisance in the only neighborhood she knew. She was rather pitiful looking...... a rail thin and weak pup obviously in need of veterinary care. That afternoon Ginger’s life hung in the balance as her options were weighed by shelter staff and volunteers. She however, was oblivious to that ongoing discussion as she quickly devoured an entire bowl of puppy food and wagged her tail in complete gratitude!! That feisty spirit melted the hearts of everyone there and the vote was unanimous to save Ginger Snap. Ginger Snap was immediately taken to the vet for an assessment and started on the medications she needed to regain her strength and get well. She was soon granted a “leave” from the shelter and allowed to move into a foster home where she could get some much needed R & R. Ginger has made a full and complete recovery and has been labeled "Miss Personality" in her foster home. Her days of starving on the streets are now a distant memory. According to the vet, Ginger was born in mid to late April. Her lineage is a mystery.... possibly having a little Lab, Shepherd or maybe even Terrier in her; however she mostly resembles the breed characteristics of the Basenji. Ginger Snap will most probably remain a medium sized dog. What makes her most charming is her fabulous set of ears!!! Ginger has completed all of her vaccinations and she’s also been started on monthly heartworm preventative. Ginger spends her time both inside and out, but prefers being inside with her foster family. She learned to use the doggie door in an instant. Ginger is accustomed to sleeping in her crate at night, as long as she has her bed and her toys with her. Miss Personality is highly socialized and never meets a stranger..... she absolutely loves people of all ages and gets along famously with other dogs!!! She’s inquisitive and explores new things every single day. Her ability to learn things so quickly has been quite impressive. Most of all, she’s just a happy and affectionate girl who’s looking for a place to call home. Ginger Snap has made quite a comeback from the day she entered the animal shelter, and is most certainly going to be a delight for her future family.
